movie musings

first thing. lauren bacall was a beautiful woman.

second. a quote.
will graham: you had ... disadvantages.
hannibal lecter: what disadvantages?
will graham: you're insane.

i saw "the passion of the crist" last night. it was a powerful movie. my co-workers thought it strange that i would be interested in watching it. i can see the controversy the movie is stirring up. i don't think it's the movie itself, but rather the power of the media and the lack of critical thought. too many people will walk away from that movie and think "that's the way it was. "the jews" were a bunch of blood thirsty people who killed the son of god." they won't walk away and think "how would i have felt if someone showed up claiming to be the son of god, told me my religion was wrong and my religious leaders were telling me that he was a heretic?" one thing i couldn't understand was why any parent would bring their children to this movie. what child has the patience to read sub-titles for an hour and a half?
